Ojo de Agua
Orange Zest, Sugar Wafer & Airy
A bright and airy washed coffee from a growing group of smallholder producers on the slopes of Volcán de Agua in Guatemala. Built in collaboration with our longtime friends at Los Volcanes Coffee, Ojo de Agua brings together small farms around Ciudad Vieja with a focus on quality, traceability and creating greater value for producers.
About this coffee
Proyecto Ojo de Agua brings together smallholder coffee producers farming around Ciudad Vieja and San Miguel Escobar on the slopes of Volcán de Agua, Guatemala.
The project began with just eight producers, many working plots of less than one hectare. For the 2025–26 harvest, that number has grown to nearly 40 as more producers from the surrounding community have joined.
Since 2024, producers have delivered carefully selected ripe cherry to Beneficio La Esperanza, the wet mill operated by our longtime partners at Los Volcanes Coffee. Centralizing processing gives the team greater control over quality and consistency while maintaining traceability back to the people growing the coffee.
There is an economic side to the project too. Los Volcanes pays participating producers above the local market price and provides direct feedback on cup quality and coffee performance. The idea is simple: create a clearer connection between the work happening on these small farms, the quality in the cup, and the value producers receive for it.
The farms sit between 1,500 and 1,730 meters above sea level in the volcanic soils surrounding Volcán de Agua. Cool mountain conditions and slow cherry development contribute to the sweetness and clarity we're finding in this coffee.
Ojo de Agua translates to “spring of water.” In the cup, we're finding a coffee that feels just as light and refreshing as the name suggests.
